Overview of the Storm Water Maintenance Program
The Town of Stallings is responsible for maintaining storm drainage systems within dedicated rights-of-way or easements. However, the Town does not have the authority to enforce storm drainage controls on private property, except as permitted by State and Federal laws. Our responsibilities include addressing issues like erosion, sinkholes, occasional flooding, and conditions that obstruct natural drainage. Priority is given to matters that pose a public safety risk or have the potential to cause significant structural damage.
Please note:
Per Stallings' Code of Ordinances (Chapter 93.01), property owners are responsible for maintaining stormwater easements and rights-of-way on their property. Regular maintenance tasks include mowing, landscaping, removing debris, and keeping drainage areas free of obstructions. Proper care ensures the efficient operation of our stormwater systems and helps to mitigate risks like flooding and erosion.
For more information on maintenance requirements, please consult the Town’s Code of Ordinances or contact the Engineering or Public Works Departments.
